NOTICE This is belated, but whatever... Use of this article system (what you are viewing) has been deprecated for some time. As a result, you can find more up-to-date (though mostly still outdated due to lack of submissions) information by viewing any related download-categories. The continued use of this sytem, where download-related material is concerned is used mostly to show the relations between one or more download categories (where applicable). Thanks -Hellspire

Otakuworks FAQ

1. Cannot Access Avatars.

Wrong file type. -Open image via windows photo gallery and/or Paint, ‘save as’ jpeg. An image appearing as a jpeg jpg etc. doesn’t mean it always is.

Wrong Dimensions. -If image is above 160x185 in either dimension, the image won’t upload. Make sure to keep both width and height below or at the maximum upload size. Image is to large. -Either convert image to a compress format, or change image with the following link. Resize Image

Donators only feature. -Only donators and Staff have access to upload an Avatar. Not regular members. There is an assortment of Avatars to choose from, and said list is being updated constantly. If you are a donator and cannot upload, or you cannot choose an existing Avatar, Contact Us and we will try to reply as soon as possible.

2. Downloads Aren‘t Working

- Be sure to have your Codec installed. They are vital to play most formats. We recommend CCCP Project The CCCP supports most formats and has the WMC and Zoom player included. If by some chance the CCCP doesn’t work, try K-Lite We also recommend the K-Lite Codec Package.

- If you are unable to open files you might not have the software for it. Most computers have stock software to unzip files. If you do not have the software to open .rar files Win-Rar. Win-Rar can zip and unzip all folders. Win-Rar also allows you to extract from .rar files.

- Some Manga is not in standard .jpg/jpeg format. Some is .png .gif etc. However, most newer computers do not need extra software to view .png .gif. We currently don't have any recommendations for Photo software.

3. Not Receiving PM Alerts.

- If you fail to get notice of new PM’s, be sure to make Otakuworks allowed through your email. Most email Providers have Otakuworks listed as spam when you first start getting notices. If the problem still occurs change other settings as you see fit. If that still does not fix it, try editing your email address in the userCP.

4. Slow DL Speeds.

- If your speeds are slow, it might just be a congested time for DL’ing. You might want to wait some and then try again shortly. If your speeds remain below (your) normal, contact us. We always try to respond as quickly as possible. Pranks may result in a temporary or permanent ban.

5. Logging In.

- If you are unable to log in, or any features you know you have are inaccessible to you. Email us. Emailing usually takes longer than the PM system we use, but you will most likely get a reply. In the email, please state your Username, Password, and give a list of the problems you are experiencing. If you do not we will not respond, and you will remain having to recreate another account. Pranks may result in a temporary or permanent ban.

6. MISCELLANIOUS

-If you are having any other types of problems, such as there isn’t a file where its supposed to be, or files not working how it should, Contact US and we will see what can be done to fix the problem. Pranks may result in a temporary or permanent ban.

7. DONATIONS

-Donators are allowed special privileges, such as no ads, and no wait time between downloads. Also, their name is posted permanently on a list of donators for everyone to see. Donation minimum is currently $5 and subject to change.

-When using Paypal, be sure to give/use the correct information. We do not take responsibility for your payment not reaching us. You could always try more than once, but if you screw up and lose the money, we will not refund it. Contact Paypal to get a refund, or just be sure to do it right the 1st time. 8. BROWSER

-We recommend Firefox or Safari latest editions to enjoy full capacity and capabilities of this site. IE is just wrong, and should result in a ban. But it doesn’t, don’t worry.

9. DL RESUME

-OW does not currently support DL resume, and is likely never to do so. Sorry. Do not complain to staff about this, could result in temporary ban.

10. Sending in Series Information

-If you wish to help us expand the site by sending us the information on a series, we ask that it be handwritten. If it is not hand written, then please send us a request, and we will obtain the information from Wiki, or other useful sites. This is to avoid wasting time. If you were to send us something that we could already achieve ourselves, it would be repetitious. Also, if you are going to send in a hand written synopsis, it should only be from a series that you have personally watched yourself, even if its only the first episode/chapter of the series. The synopsis should only be about the series in question, retaining very few references to other series, and not being biased. It must be checked for errors, and properly written. Lastly, we ask that give only the information we need. Such as Artist, Year, and so on. If you cannot, please state what you were unable to find/decide on. Again, this is all to avoid wasting time, to staff and to our members. If you want to have info about a series, yet can't write it yourselves, contacts us and it will be handled immediately. Continuing to send in info from other sites may result in temporary or permanent ban.

11. File Information.

-When we upload files to our servers, that are placed individually into a zipped folder to conserve space, and allow for easier transfer. Upon zipping said folders, we do not add a complete series in one folder, nor do we separate the Sub Team’s releases. They are kept exactly as is, only zipped. Regarding .rar files, we zip them also, even though .rar can be considered the same process as zipping said files. Regardless of how a Sub Team releases a file(s), they will always be zipped by our staff. Do not ask for us to zip multiple chapters or episodes. There are thousands of files on OW, and requests to zip respective chapters is just unreasonable.

12. Site Conduct.

-Under no circumstances are members of OW, donators included, to order/instruct other members around. If there is a problem notify staff and it will be dealt with. Failure to follow this results in Permanent Ban. The Leaders and Mediators of OW, are the immortals, then the primary build of staff.

13. Staff Requirements

Tutorial videos are currently being made, and will instruct staff on all sorts of things. This will not be completed anytime soon.

Stream Gatherers-are required to be on hand at odd times, and add a minimum of 5 streams per day. If a stream cannot be found, notify an Immortal. If we are update to date....good. If there is a xvid and h264 of the same episode, you can add the same stream for both.

BloggersBloggers are required to submit at least one Blog every 1.5 weeks or so. It is to be completely about Anime/Manga. Should be well written and proof read. It also should be interesting, or at least have an intelligent underlying theme. It is to be more than 2 paragraphs. You can go on a rant if you wish, as long as you stay on topic.

Info Gatherers You are on the look out constantly. If there is anything missing, you complete it. It is not a requirement to do something. However, those that remain inactive and do not contribute, shall be removed from the Staff Page.

Wanderers/Graphics The most lenient of tasks. We understand there are some things that need time. Your work is always appreciated, yet dude to the odd times at which said work is to be completed, don't submit crap.

-If you are going to be unavailable for sometime, notify an Immortal. If it is personal, fine, we don't need to know exactly what it is you are doing. Just please give an estimate when you'll return. We expect results upon returning, and while nice, it is not a requirement.

Any inactive staff will be removed from the staff page. You can re-apply if you want, but you must guarantee results, and a reason for having to be booted in the first place. We give 2nd chances, they don't always come easy though

TERMS

NOOB. We have determined an acronym for this slang, Never Observed Ordinary Behaviors. This is directed at you, the horde. Wear it proudly, for this is your existence.

HORDE. The result of leechers gathering together to receive tribute. The gathering is usually somewhat in immense proportions, and is usually divided by those that give, and those that take. A HORDE’s responsibility is to give feedback, and ideas when needed. They often produce DONORS.

LEECHER. One who has no regard for costs and/or cannot give said costs. Usually forms in groups, leading to the creation of a HORDE.

DONOR. A being whose intent remains unseen, and emerges from the HORDE. Not considered a leecher, due to the giving process. Is held in high regard.

SUB TEAM. Group of people that translate Anime. These are where our Anime archive is obtained from. And is how you are able to watch your precious series.

SCANLATOR TEAM. Group of people that scan and translate manga. This is where our Manga Archive is obtained from. And is how you are able to enjoy reading Manga at your discretion.

YAOI. Man on man. Usually developed as a Manga.

YURI. Girl on girl. Usually developed as a Manga.

ECCHI. Nudity given in a soft-core manner. Can be developed as an Anime or Manga. Usually playful, and not depicting anything on the ‘Deep End’. Comedy is hand in hand with ecchi.

HENTAI. Pure Sex. Can be soft-core, or a RAW amount on porn. Can be developed as an Anime or Manga. If you’re not of age to view this, don’t. We take NO responsibility if you choose to ignore the laws on this sort of thing.

DOS/DDOS’ing. Denial of Service attack. DDOS is a distributed DOS. This can severely affect a server, and has potential to crash a site/server. There can be more than one reason of cause, but for OW, its by starting more transactions than the server can compute. Creating such, WILL result in PERMANENT BAN.

DDL. A download that is a result of a transfer directly from one server to another. These can be very stable, or very unstable depending on the connection/site quality. Usually more consistent than a torrent.

TORRENT. Type of download connection. Relies on an original copy being distributed by means of transfer between multiple Leechers/Seeders.

DEEP END. Anything that pushes the limits of normality. Anime, Manga, Use of language. Will not be tolerated in anything more than the most miniscule amount. Results in PERMANENT BAN.

SWASTIKA. Symbol of peace that has been heavily tainted by the Nazi Regime’s use of it. Also resembles default avatar. Was actually a shuriken which most NOOBS noticed from Naruto. Shurikens existed long before that crap anime was made, know this.

YHBT. You Have Been Trolled.

CODEC. Short for Compressor-Decompressor. You need this installed/updated to play each and every video from OW. Codec Packs decode what type of container a video is in, so you can watch without fail. What a codec does in layman’s terms, is unpack the audio and video of what you’re trying to watch.

MINI-DRIVE. Used whenever we are in need of meeting a deadline earlier than the end of the month. The amounts needed will vary, as will the reasons and times. They will always be in effect for “Five Days of Less” prior to the start. Bt meeting the goal of the Mini-Drive, surplus is not halted. Donations are always wanted and needed, regardless of the time. Your names and privileges will be given as always as well. Please do not ask us “Why?” Its for the site and site development, and it’s meaning will never change. To make it clear, the only goal for a Mini-Drive, is to obtain the donations needed more quickly than by the end of the month.

OW. Acronym for Otakuworks.
